It’s real easy to duplicate views in Revit. Simply select the view in the project browser, right-click and choose “Duplicate View” from the list. But what if you need to copy a view a bunch of time?
I had to do this recently and it was really tedious. I was working on options for some details. I had six details and I needed to create four variations for each. That’s twenty-four clicks of “Duplicate View”, if you’re counting. By the time I was done, my index finger was sore.
Vowing never to do that again, I wrote this macro to batch duplicate views. Simply select the views you want to duplicate, the number of copies you need, then choose the duplication settings. You can specify duplicate, duplicate with detailing, or duplicate as a dependent view (though you can always use the “Apply Dependent Views” tool to do this as well). The macro will automatically create the specified number of duplicates.
Sure beats clicking the mouse button, doesn’t it?
