|Hey, it’s Michael from ArchSmarter,|
|I know you’re busy so I’ll keep this quick. I’m in the process of planning out ArchSmarter’s learning content and courses for this year. While I have my own thoughts on what I should do, I’d much rather hear from you. So, what do you want to learn this year? I put together a quick survey to get your feedback on some things I’m considering. Do you have a few minutes to share your thoughts? If so, click the link below to take the short survey.
Thanks! I really appreciate your feedback. OK, here are five things to check out this week:
#1: AEC Technology: Hits and Misses
AEC Bytes founder Lachmi Khemlani takes a trip down Memory Lane as she looks back at the past decade of AEC technology and tallies up the hits and misses over the last 10 years. Anyone else remember Autodesk Architectural Studio? How about Piranesi? What other applications would you add to the hit or miss column?
#2: Where Are You on the Path to Revit Mastery?
I’m tossing a little bit of Throwback Thursday into this week’s Top Five by reviving the question, “Where are you on the path to Revit mastery?” No matter where you find ourselves along this path, the important thing is to keep your skills fresh and fine-tuned. And hopefully your own Revit path doesn’t involve peeling yourself up off of any judo mats!
#3: What’s the Future of Our Profession?
Check out Daniel Davis’ comprehensive summary of the recent book, The Future of Professions by father and son authors Richard and Daniel Susskind. The book tackles the growing concerns over technology’s increasing role in traditional white-collar professional fields, including architecture. What is the future of the architecture given increasing influence of technology? Will there still be architects in 10 – 20 years? What can we do to remain relevant in this changing landscape? Click the link to find out more!
#4: 24 From the Floor
If you were not able to make it out to the recent Autodesk University conference, fear not! Greg Corke with AEC Magazine’s got you covered as he shares the companies and technologies that caught his attention on the expo floor. There are some pretty exciting things coming down the AEC pipeline for sure! Click the link below to learn more.
#5: The Best Sci-Fi Books Everyone Should Read
If you’re like me and enjoy losing yourself in tales from the future, Wired has compiled their list of must-read science fiction books. I was happy to see a few of my all-time favorites on the list. So what made the cut? Click the link below to find out more.
Question of the Week:
Are you a BIM360 guru? If so, ARK member Christopher Ibegbulem wants to hear from you! More specifically, he wants to know how you manage team spaces and shared folders. Have some suggestions for Christopher? Click the link below to share your thoughts.
That’s all from me. Hope you’re having a great week.
