If your Revit template were a car, what kind of car would it be? Would it be a four-door economy sedan that gets you where you’re going…eventually? Or a high-performance sports car that takes you from schematic design to construction documents in record time?
A high-performance Revit template can save you a lot of time on your next project. In fact, it’s one of the easiest ways to start automating your workflow. By configuring the template to work the way you work, you can get rid of a lot of the tedious setup and configuration that’s required at the beginning of the project. Plus, you can ensure your projects will be consistent and accurate. Why waste time re-inventing the wheel? A high-performance template lets you jump right in and start modeling.

Charles,
You didn’t miss much. It was a total disaster with the webinar platform. So much for using new technology. . .
I’m going to record the presentation tonight and will post it here on ArchSmarter. I’ll send out an email when it’s available.
Michael
Thanks
I thought it was me not being able to connect.
Your solutions are very helpful, we have used some of your tools for
Revit and are working on view templates.
Hi Michael,
Thank you for posting this video. Below is a list of the questions you asked and the comments that I wanted to provide.
1. Q: Do you have different templates for different project types/phases?
1. A: Yes. Unfortunately, they are not all finely tuned. We have a broad, more general use template for projects that we continue to build on and improve week after week, which has been the go to for most projects.
2. Q: Do you have BIM / Revit standards? Are they built into your Revit template?
2. A: Yes we do and are in the process of creating/continuing and implementing them across the office. They are also a part of the Revit template. The office used CAD heavily before Revit came along, so the office is still in its infancy in Revit.
3. Q: What do you include in your template? Do you load in all your component and system families?
3. A: We include pretty much everything we can, but since the projects we work on are not very big, the template is still pretty lean. Also, since this is a work in progress, the template has not reached its full potential.
4. Q: How do you update your project files after updating your template?
4. A: We have not reached that point yet. We are actually learning from our projects on what to include in our templates.
5. Q: When do you find time to work on your template?
5. A: I am alotted 4-6 hours / week to work on the template.
Thank you for everything!

Great advice. A versatile, high performance template can save so much time and effort at the beginning, giving you more time to focus on the end-product, and any issues that may arise. Well worth the initial effort! Thanks for your insight!
